The Grand Circuit

The Grand Circuit takes you beyond the crowds to discover temples that many visitors miss — yet are equally spectacular. This tour is perfect for those who have already done the Small Circuit, or for travelers who prefer fewer crowds and a more adventurous experience. Your morning begins at Preah Khan, one of the largest temple complexes at Angkor. Originally a Buddhist university with over 1,000 teachers, this sprawling complex features long corridors, intricate carvings, and a unique two-story structure with round columns — unlike anything else at Angkor. Continue to the enchanting Neak Pean, a small temple built on an artificial island in the middle of a reservoir. The walk along the wooden boardwalk through the flooded forest is magical, especially during the rainy season when the landscape transforms into a shimmering waterway. Next, visit Ta Som — a small but charming temple known for its eastern gateway, beautifully enveloped by the roots of a strangler fig tree. It is like a mini Ta Prohm but without the crowds. The afternoon features East Mebon, a 10th-century temple that once stood on an island in the now-dry East Baray reservoir, with impressive stone elephant sculptures guarding its corners. The day culminates at Pre Rup, a stunning temple-mountain that offers one of the best sunset views in the entire Angkor region. For those wanting an even more special experience, we highly recommend adding Banteay Srei — the "Citadel of Women." Located about 30 minutes further north, this 10th-century temple features the finest and most intricate stone carvings in all of Angkor, rendered in beautiful pink sandstone. Many consider it the jewel of Khmer art.
